description : Zug Zug is an ork warrior, an "uruk" of the northern witch-kingdom of Angband which was overthrown long ago and lies in ruin. He and "a few of the lads" had stumbled across a few long-forgotten casks of dwarf-brandy in one of the ancient dungeons from before the fall, when Angband was great and her treasure hoards were filled with the plunder of a thousand campaigns. So it was in this drunken state that Zug Zug uncovered the Worldstone of Thangorodrim. As his red eyes peered deep into its many facets, he saw great warriors, a mighty unending battle that went on forever and ever. There was a blaze of fire, and the clang of steel, the capturing of flags; and gibs! Gibs spread far and wide over countless grim arenas. Zug Zug's muddy mind reeled at the sight of it. The whole world was reeling. (That dwarven brandy sure packs a wallop) But where did the lads go? Where did everything go? He was falling through weirdish wild space. The Worldstone had sucked him in, and brought him to that place he had seen from afar: the Arena of the Vadrigar.

"Hey! Oi! Wotz all this then?"

info : Zug Zug my third skin, and I hope he is the first in a series that will become "The Ork Pak". I intend to do ork skins for at least five of the Q3A models.

Additional Credits to : Thanks to id Software for making this great game, and especially to John Carmack for his support of the Macintosh platform.

The idea of a creature called an "orc" was first put forth in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, but since then has become an archetype of the western swords & sorcery fantasy paradigm.

Aren't you happy that I used the word "paradigm"? I am.

Ennyhoo, "orc" becomes "ork" when you become acquainted with the UK games company Games Workshop, and their really nifty game universe "Warhammer 40,000". An ork is an orc with a big shooty gun. Now I expect GW is quite vigilant about things that they consider to be their intellectual property, but I doubt using their spelling of ork will make many waves. I originally wanted to make skins based on their ork clans (Evil Sunz, Bad Moons and the Goffs) but I figured they might get a bit upset about it, so I put it on the back burner for a while, at least until I get permission from someone over there.

So the name Zug Zug comes from Blizzard's Warcraft 2. It's one of the noises the orc grunt unit makes when you click him. However, the backstory above is not from WC2. It is a bit of extrapolation from Tolkien. Angband was one of the strongholds of Melkor, or Morgoth as Fenor named him after his treachery in Valinor. The events of The Lord of the Rings occur long after Morgoth was defeated, however Angband would still be populated with the remnants of his armies.

So for my future orkish plans, I will continue in the Tolkienesque vein, and do up orks from Angband, Mordor and Isengard. Orcs of Mordor and Isengard fought each other quite a bit, and so they will serve as CTF variants; Mordor's Orcs of the Red Eye of Sauron vs. Isengard's Uruk-Hai of the White Hand of Saruman.

Anyone interested in helping me out with an "Ork War" mod get in touch with me at oexil@yahoo.com. All I know is graphics; I know squat about coding and such arcane arts.
