Description:

I was going for a LavaGiant/Facing Worlds kind of map, and maybe there is even some subconsious CTF-November influence in there with the stairs inside the bases. I wanted a fast paced and furious action filled map when played with a full load. I hope I suceeded in this. For the weapon placement and types, I tried to stick mainly with a CTF Facing Worlds layout to a certain extent that is allowable in this map design.

After a week of beta testing (hard to find people to do this!) I think I have all the bugs out. There is still some slow down in a few places due to the high amount of polygon rendering from certain viewpoints (on top of sniper towers and outside facing a the bridge) but I think I've gotten the polygon count down to an acceptable level. I don't think I can reduce the polygon count any further without losing some of the detail that makes the map whole. I guess this is just the nature of the beast when it comes to 3D graphics, especially when doing outdoor type levels in Unreal Tournament where much is visible.

If you are encountering severe slow downs, then you may need to lower or turn off some graphical settings in UT to improve performance. Or (heaven forbid!) it may be time for a hardware upgrade. I use a PIII 500 w/ 128 MB SDRAM and an STB Velocity 4400 AGP (TNT1) and get very minor slow downs with 9 bots playing plus me. I run UT in 640x480 in 16 bit color with all settings on or set to high except for the skin detail, which I have set to low.

As a side note this is the second CTF map I've ever built (first one didn't turn out too well), and the first one I've ever released. Hope you enjoy it! ;-)

How to Use:

Put the file CTF-VerosKache.unr in your UnrealTournament/Maps directory. Now it should be available from your game menus within UT.

Credits:

I borrowed the razor wire from AS-Overlord and the skybox (slightly altered) from CTF-LavaGiant. I figured I could have built them myself as it's not too hard to do, but why do that when they already exist?
