Story
-----
Balanced precariously between the massive forces of twin black holes, this advanced
research station was, until recently, the Skaarj's greatest military secret. The strongest
structure ever engineering by the Skaarj, it has been designed to withstand the awesome
forces at the confluence of these two enigmas of deep space.

Initially built as a power production and scientific research facility, Skaarj scientists
assumed this was an ideal environment to conduct experiments on quantum theory in a
gravitationally extreme environment while developing a new plasma conduction technology.
As is often the case, the true goal of this research was more sinister. The Skaarj had
intended to build a weapon that harnessed the unimaginable power of these black holes.

Fate was to deal the Skaarj a cruel hand. Close proximity to the gravitational rift caused
the researchers to become increasingly hostile toward their coworkers. The startling
number of atrocities perpetuated by the researchers eventually resulted in the total
abandonment of the station.

Before leaving the Event Horizon Research Station for good, Skaarj engineers automated
the production and periodic transmission of plasma so the harvesting of energy could
continue. Remote collection of a somewhat diminished supply of plasma energy was deemed
far preferable to destroying the station.

Ever since humans -- specifically the Liandri Corp. -- took over the sector, the station
has once again been used for a variety of questionable purposes. Not the least of which
is to provide the stage for broadcasting the awful tournaments that bloodthirsty millions
wager on and vicariously live through. The station's precise symmetry, combined with the
psychotic hostility induced in all who visit, make it perfect for one of Liandri's most
sophisticated variants: Capture The Flag.

Let the hostilities begin ...

Author's Notes
--------------
This map is an original, created for the Make Something Unreal contest. It has been
designed to incorporate the low-gravity play styles of DM-Morpheus and DM-Hyperblast
in a CTF map. The open, low gravity environment found in the exterior segments of the
bases is balanced by the tight battle in the normal gravity interior of each base.

Early in the design phase, we decided that it would be interesting to give the attacking
team relatively 'easy' access to the flag, but then require them to battle their way out
of the base. Hence the accelerator tube was introduced. Once the attacking team has
entered the base, they can enter the tube and be accelerated directly to the flag. But
once they have the flag, a concerted effort will be required to battle their way out of
the base.

As a result of this design, the bots will usually play the map defensively when left to
their own devices. They do go for the flag of the own accord, but will spend more time
defending and playing the 'prongs' between the bases. Of course ordering the bots to
'take their flag' leads to a full rush on the flag! As far as we are aware, there aren't
too many maps that incorporate a one-way access to the flag, and a multiple path exit from
the base. Many hours have been spent ensuring that the bots play the paths as intended.

The Skaarj testure set was an obvious choice for the 'alien' nature of the geometry of this
map. These texture would have to be one of the most under used sets used by the community,
and yet they are so original.
