Extended description:
--------------------
"Thunderdome is simple: get to the the weapons,
use them anyway you can. I know you won't break the rules, there aren't any."

This map has been screaming for existance since Doom 1. It's a small deathmatch arena - a
cage match. Two men enter, one man leaves. Well, another man respawns. This map tries to be
true to the movie "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome". I have messed with it enough, my hope is that
someone can polish it up and make it truly play worthy. It would really be nice as part of a larger
Barter Town map or set of maps. If you like small arenas (and who does?)
you may enjoy this map. At least, I hope, the sounds are fun.

Features:
1. The Dome: it's about 50% bigger than in the movie. And, the movie's had 8 wedges in 3 tiers, this
has 12 in 4. The dome is not 100% solid, there are some holes, by design. Weapons are around the
top of the inside, use the jump boots to reach them. Like in the movie, where their elastic cords
were cut, the jump boots wear out, so jump well and choose wisely.
2. The Wheel: "Bust a deal, face The Wheel" - it's there for decoration. Thought it might get in the
way of playing.

FAQ (Figured'y'd Ask Questions)
Q: What's with the Bot?
A: That's Auntie. I don't know how to get her name to show up as other than Player. If you kill her,
she will respawn in the dome. Yes, she is killable.

Q: Why jump boots? Why not low gravity?
A: In the movie, each guy got about 7 jumps before the bungie cords were cut. So I set the boots for that.
Low gravity would have you high jumping all the time.

Q: No health pickups?
A: Two reasons: a) not in the movie, b) a good player can stay healthy all the time and never die,
which sucks for the other guy, discouraging further play.
No health means you can wear down ANY player eventually.

Q: Where's the crowd?
A: I had placed some spectator pawns outside, they stopped showing up in game play, I don't know why.
Ideally, there should be as many as can fit without impacting game performance. If anyone knows how
to do this, feel free.

Q: Why "Thunderdome3"? Why not just "Thunderdome"?
A: This is a work in progress. When it's finished, it would be just Thunderdome.

Q: What's with the Invisibility pickup? It's out of reach.
A: You have to be smarter than that. You can get it, I assure you.

Q: Is The Wheel just like in the movie?
A: Exactly, with one addition.

Work to be done:
1. Play testing. Need to tune weapons & ammo, placement and frequency
2. Lighting. I tried to make fog, but it washes out the other side of the dome. The movie
had fog, maybe there's a way to do it right. The movie has 4 lights from above and maybe
six on the ground aiming up, but I don't know enough about lights to get it to look
right. The sign's light only lights one side, and could do a better job of it.
3. The sign and The Wheel need bases on which to rotate.
4. The bots and pawns which would be spectators: get them to show up, put as many in as will
not bog down the game. It's quite fun to watch them in 'frenzy' mode when it works.
5. More spectators. Either carcasses or 2D standups.
6. Make a better Auntie.
7. Put more in the town. Huts and Auntie's house, and cars and camels and carts and such.
8. Sounds: weapon respawn should use the 'clink' noise from the movie. Would be cool to attach
individual sounds to actors, so when you are near them they are louder.
9. Textures: the rusty metal ones I made did not import well, most of the detail got washed out.
The sign turned out the best, but The Wheel and cage textures should look better.
10. There should be damage-causing spikes all over the dome pointing in.
and
11. WHERE THE HELL IS MY MASTER-BLASTER MODEL!? I've wanted one since Quake, surprised nobody
made a player model based on this combo. At least, I've never seen one.

If anyone can help with any of this, please email me at the address above.

Thunderdome is probably some copy or trademark. Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome stars
Mel Gibson and Tina Turner. It rocks, go buy the video, DVD, and sound track, and praise
the entire cast and crew. Buy everything you can afford from the makers of that movie
and all companies even remotely associated with them, especially Warner Bros. Happy, Lawyer Boy?
