Author's Notes:
The original Camelot was my first map which I made in early '99. This
first effort was more of an excercise in learning UnrealEd and what to
do and not to do in a map. CamelotR2 was a recent beta remake which
addressed the original's problems and spent only one night on a test
server. After identifying final problems, R3 was produced and is were
it will stay. CamelotR3 is no icon of perfection, but is a large map
that's fun to explore and, once players learn the layout, it plays very
well. I had considered adding pathnodes for bot play but the size was
getting out of hand and bots tend to drown when they get near water
anyway. Sorry.

As you can tell, castles are a fascination of mine and in an effort to
produce what I consider the most important aspect of a map (realism), a
great deal of time went into the architecture of Camelot. I spent no
less than 30 hours with graph paper and pencil before I even fired up
UnrealEd. The outside can get a bit demanding on framerate but gameplay
tends to migrate indoors anyway. The outside is mostly for looks or
for snipers who lay waiting for those who will gawk too long at a window.

Amongst all the eye candy lies several secrets to add some interest.
In all, there are 8 secret doors, 4 masked wall sniping areas, and 2
drop-out floors for unsuspecting suckers. Under one is a receiving
pit where the executioner can then invoke a slow death by encroaching
walls while he looks on in delight. Under the other is a pit full of
rather nasty squids. Use of this trap requires no spectating...just
knowing your victim is fighting a losing battle against squids that
have 20,000 pts. health each is more than enough to give you the warm
fuzzies!

Enjoy, and thank you for supporting my map.
