| Mac's Sticks 'N Stones CTF for Shogo, ver 1.0 |
---------------------------------------------------

--"Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but Red Riots kill."

Instructions:
--------------
Your orders are simple. Protect your flag. Capture the enemy flag.
Any questions?

Suggestions:
------------

Go here if you're new to CTF in general. Trust me, it's worth it.

Emphasize teamwork. THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL DEATHMATCH MOD!

Listen to more experienced players.

If the tractor beam is available... USE IT! Think 'grappling hook' folks...

SERVER ADMINS: Sorry about the paucity of maps. Trying to rectify that. Also,
I strongly *suggest* you ENABLE tractor beams for Sticks 'N Stones CTF games.
Why? Because... well, just because :p

LEVEL DESIGNERS: Get to work :) I'll be posting the maps I like, and hopefully will have
some (and the authors' permissions) to include in the next release/update. To make it SNS CTF
compatable, you need only add a red flag and a blue flag and punch in 2 numbers. So, get to work!

Installation:
-------------
Unzip the main file containing the SNS CTF rez file. Place that rez file in
your Shogo\Custom directory. To start a SNS CTF game, start Shogo, click
"Customize", add SNSCTF.REZ to the list of files to be loaded, and click "OK".
Then, back at the main dialog box, click "Multiplayer," and follow the instructions
of the wizard.

Also, add the following lines to your autoexec config file in \shogo
(ignore stuff in [], they are comments...):

[at the start of all AddActions...]
AddAction TeamSay 23

[RIGHT after the end of all the AddActions...]
rangebind "##keyboard" "R" 0.000000 0.000000 "TeamSay" [replace "R" with desired key]

Maps:
-----

OF_SNSCTF1.dat
MCA_SNSCTF2.dat

I'm a programmer, not a Level Designer. I'm basically pulling a "Team Fortress" here--
there are no good maps in the core package, at least not for version 1.0. Hopefully, I'll
have some really nice ones for the 1.1 update in a week or two, but no promises. Instead,
I've placed two starter maps in the package. However, it is ridiculously *EASY* to convert
maps into SNS CTF-playable ones. Basically, you add 2 flags, and set one flag's "Team" property
to "0" (blue/stones), and one flag's "Team" property to "1" (red/sticks). Naturally, you can add
more to the map to make it a complete experience, but this will do for now =)

Bugs:
-----
-Flags seem to not obey the laws of space-time. They appear to occupy more than one place during a
moment in time. This, however, is just what you see, not what actually is. If you get a message saying
you picked up a flag, but you see the flag on the ground, trust me--you picked it up. Really. Go to
3rd person mode, and you'll see it.

-Flags turn wireframed when picked up (on Voodoo 1 and 2 renderers... not on the softdib though...)

-Team scores at the end of the level sometimes show 0 - 0. Oops.

If you find anything else, PLEASE email me at mac@planetunreal.com. I tested this as best I could, but I started
coding it on Dec 11th, 1998, and am releasing it today, Dec 16th 1998. Plus, no QA division here :) So, if
I missed something, inform me so I try to fix it ASAP.

Things in the future (1.1 in about a week, everything else...??):
-----------------------------------------------------------------

- SNS CTF runes. You *knew* they were coming...
- Maps. I'm shooting for things like Q2's official ctf maps... god I love McKinely's Revival...
- Server options. Friendly fire, ability to vote someone off your team (and potentially the server), etc...
- Nametags (hopefully). Be able to know who your teammates are! None of that cheesy Zoid's id command...
this is the real deal folks!

Help Wanted:
------------
Artists, LD's and Modelers. Runes need models, flags need to be better skinned, and the
webpage needs help. And MAPS. TONS AND TONS AND TONS AND TONS OF MAPS. REALLY NICE ONES.
THINK LMCTF. THINK MCKINELY'S REVIVAL! So, drop me a line --> mac@planetunreal.com

That's all folks.

Digit.

Mac
