SAW - 5.56x45mm NATO - USA - 700 RPM - Another product of the fertile mind of Gene Stoner, the 63-series was to represent a modular family of weapons built from a common receiver and sharing many parts. The 63A Commando was a lightweight, compact version of the LMG variant. Given the military designation of XM207, the Commando was tested in Vietnam by Special Forces units, particularly the US Navy SEALs. Users had to be particularly careful to keep the weapon clean, otherwise the mechanism would 'runaway': firing until the belt was exhausted or the gun malfunctioned. D.E. Watters
