 HMCTF Alpha 0.40 - August 11 1999

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

NOTE: This version is still an Alpha. It misses some features,
some of the art is still placeholder graphics and it uses
Classic CTF maps (http://www.planethalflife.com/aftershock/cctf)
to be played, as no official HMCTF maps have been released yet.

The basics:
-----------
Attack the enemy base, grab their flag, then take it back to
your base. In this variation you must touch your base flag
when carrying the enemy flag in order to score - if your flag
isn't at your base when you return, you or your team must get
it back to gain points and captures.

Installation:
-------------
Unzip the contents in the zip file under the Half-Life
directory, in a directry called "hmctf":

[Half-Life]
  |
  +-[hmctf]
      |
      +-[All data from the zip]

Then run Half-Life and activate the mod through the mod
browser.

NOTE: Currently HMCTF has no finished maps. To play it using
Classic CTF maps, take these steps:
-copy cctfwad.wad, cctfwad2.wad, cctfwad3.wad and tfc.wad
from your CCTF directory to your HMCTF directory.
-copy pak0.pak from your CCTF directory to your HMCTF
 directory.
Now you can use the CCTF maps in HMCTF. Just start a server
using cctf1, cctf2, cctf3, cctf4 or cctf5.

The Rules:
----------
[Modified from Zoids q2ctf docs]

Two areas of the map are designated as base encampments.

When you connect to the server, you will either be automatically
but in an observermode mode where you can select your team. You
can change teams later on by using the "changeteam" command and
selecting red or blue from the menu. You spawn at your team's
base. If you die, you are not spawned at the base, but at one of
the deathmatch start spots randomly placed in the level.

If you pick up the enemy flag, you must return to base and touch
your flag in order to score. Note that if you get back to the
base, your flag might not be there if the other team has it! Get
the rest of your team to go frag the enemy player and get your
flag back!

When a player carrying the enemy flag touches his flag he
completes a successful capture. He gets a bonus of 15 points,
and everyone on his team gets 10 points.

If you touch your flag, it will teleport back to your base.

Since everyone starts at their base after level change or
joining the game, the team will have to work out who is going
to go on offense to try to get the enemy flag, and who will play
defense by staying at base and guarding their own flag.

Server Configuration:
---------------------
There are several cvars available for the server ops:

- mp_capturelimit : When set to a number higher than 0 the game
will go to the next map when a team has the
number of flag captures set by the
                    capturelimit.
- mp_allowblood : When set to any number other than 0 there will
be blood in the game. Set it to 0 to disable
blood and gain some lag reduction.

Client Commands:
----------------
These are the commands a client can enter:

- changeteam : Brings up the team selection menu, from which you
can select the team you want to join.
