The Agency converted an old nuclear reactor core to an observation facility for anomalous biologic specimens. Modifications and installation of containment equipment took the better part of six months. The administrator finally authorized initiation of operations today. Now, at last, we can begin transporting the specimens to the underwater laboratory. As remarkable as it seems, ionized water is lethal to the Xen biological entities. All that we have to do is run a mild electric current in the water and the Xen entities won't be able to escape from the laboratory.

Today we received our first biological specimen. It's truly remarkable! I am positive that this creature did not evolve naturally, but is rather the result of extensive genetic engineering. In just 14 hours of research we have already advanced our understanding of biochemistry and genetics by decades. All this from a small creature that fits in the palm of your hand! I can't wait until we receive some of the larger specimens that we have heard about.

Those stupid physicists irradiated the latest specimen virtually destroying all useful information contained in the Xen equivalent of genes. However, they promised us something big tomorrow. They say that they have refined a particularly pure sample of the anomalous material and will be able to procure a large sample of biological specimens. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm sure they will manage to screw it up somehow.

Total power failure occurred at 1400 hours. Our backup generator is failing. I am taking over control of this laboratory due to the probable failure of the containment systems. God help us all if the specimens get loose. We don't have the firepower to stop them!
