I)   --------------------------- Installation --------------------------------

Extract Phront.exe to the SAME directory as the existing bots.ini file. If
you chose Phineas Bot installation method 1, this will be in the
half-life\phineas\ folder. If using installation method 2, extract to your
half-life\valve\ folder. You may choose to make shortcuts to Phront.exe, but
the file itself MUST reside in the same folder as bots.ini.

II)  ------------------------------ Setup ------------------------------------

Start Phront.exe and click on the "INI" tab. Change the "HL.exe path" box to
the correct location of your HL.exe or HLDS.exe file. You must list the .exe
file in addition to the path so that the correct executable will be started.
In the "Parameters" box list any Half-Life options you use. If you used the
Phineas Bot installation method 1, you will need to add -game phineas to the
box, in addition to any other parameters.

Example:           HL.exe path:      c:\Half-Life\hl.exe
                   Parameters: -console -heapsize 32000 -game phineas

When you are confident with these settings, click the button labeled "Save INI"
which will save these settings. These settings only need be set and saved the
first time Phineas Phront is started, or if your Half-Life directory changes.

III) ------------------------------ Bots -------------------------------------

Click on the "Bots" tab if bots are not already displayed. The "Model" combo
box is filled with models that are contained in pak0.pak and
half-life\valve\models\player\. If you have models installed that aren't
showing up in the listing, you need to redo the Setup portion of this Readme,
carefully setting the "HL.exe path" to the correct Half-Life folder and .exe file.

To switch between specific bot settings, click the arrow buttons next to the
bot name. The text boxes for bot color allow settings other than a number.
Section VIII of this Readme lists Jehannum's descriptions of the bot settings.

IV)  ------------------------------ Maps -------------------------------------

Click on the "Maps" tab if maps are not already displayed. The "Name" combo
box lists names of all maps contained in pak0.pak and half-life\valve\maps\.
If you have maps installed that aren't showing up in the listing, you need to
redo the Setup portion of this Readme, carefully setting the "HL.exe path" to
the correct Half-Life folder and .exe file.

To switch between specific bot settings, click the arrow buttons next to the
bot name. Section VIII of this Readme lists Jehannum's descriptions of the bot
settings. Among the map "Name" box listings you will find "Default". This is
the same as "[DefaultMap]" in Jehannum's INI file.

V)   ------------------------ Launching Half-Life ----------------------------

Accessable via the "Bots" and "Maps" tabs are "Launch" buttons which will start
Half-Life. Before Half-Life is started, the bots.ini is saved. This means any
changes made in Phineas Phront will apply to the started game, even if you did
not click "Save INI". If you attempt to launch Half-Life and get a window that
says "Could not validate Half-Life" then your "HL.exe path" is incorrect. See
the "Setup" section of this Readme.

VI)  -------------------------- Troubleshooting ------------------------------

If you get errors while attempting to start Phineas Phront regarding missing or
invalid .dll, .ocx, or other dependency files, you will need to download the
full version of Phineas Phront. This can be found on the Phineas Bot web
site's file section. After installing the full version, subsequent releases of
Phineas Phront will only require the minimal installation.

If you used install method 1 (installing to Half-Life\phineas\ and copying your
maps, models, and pak0.pak file to that dir), your maps and models may not be
listed in the map "Name" and bot "Model" combo boxes. This is because Phront
retrieves them only from the appropriate Half-Life\valve\ folders. However,
you may still type in the name of maps and models, and they will work as
expected. If you wish them to show in the selectable list, you must copy maps
and models to Half-Life\valve\maps and Half-Life\valve\models\player\,
respectively.

Other errors may be corrected by properly setting the "HL.exe path".

VII) ----------------------------- Feedback ----------------------------------

Send bug reports to phront@yahoo.com, however replies are unlikely. Jehannum's
Phineas Bot web page has a forum topic dealing with Phineas Bot front ends and
I am more likely to respond to questions there. Phineas Bot's URL is:

VIII) -------------------------- INI Settings --------------------------------

The following is quoted from Jehannum's example Bots.ini file and is a good
description of what the various bot settings can be and will do.

; Phineas Bot configuration file
;
; DefaultMap entry
;
; This section sets the default bot parameters, which will apply to all
; maps without a custom entry in this file. The item fields are:
;
; Quantity: How many bots should be created when starting a level.
; Random: No = Add bots to the game in the exact order they are
;                       listed in this file.
; Yes = Choose bots at random from this file.
; InitialDelay: The number of seconds to wait at the beginning of a level
; before beginning to add bots.
; SpawnDelay: The number of seconds to wait after a bot is added to the
; game before the next bot is added.
; WaitForPlayers: The number of players that must be in the game before
; bots begin to be added. Setting to 0 disables this.
; KeepServerFull: If this is set to a number other than 0, the server will
; make sure (using bots as necessary) that there are always
; at least this amount of players in the game. If this is
; used, the 'Quantity' and 'WaitForPlayers' values are
;                 ignored.
;
; Bot entries
;
; Name: Name of the bot.
; Model: Model for the bot to use.
;
; TopColor: TopColor and BottomColor accept a variety of value types.
; BottomColor: * One of the preset color names can be used:
; Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, Magenta
; * A number between 1 and 255 can also be used, for greater
;                customization.
; * A ? (question mark) can be used and the game will pick a
;                random color between 1 and 255.
