Willi's Offhand Grappling Hook v1.0 - Quake 3 Arena
tadao@stargate.net
--------------------------------------
--------------------------------------
Installation: unzip the woffhook.zip into your Quake 3 directory. It should create a "grapple" folder with the rest of the files inside.

--------------------------------------
To run a game: use the included grapple.lnk shortcut to start up Quake 3. Make sure that the shortcut is pointing to the right location of Quake3.exe by right clicking it, and picking properties from the pop up menu. Look in the command line, it should say this:

C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe +set fs_game grapple

Change the first half so that it points to the right directory of Quake3.exe.

Once the game has loaded, start up your server like normal. If clients want to connect to the server, they must also use the "fs_game grapple" command, either entered in a shortcut as above, or typed into the console before joining the server.

--------------------------------------
How to use the hook: since the grapple is "offhand" a player can use the hook at any time, even while a weapon is in use. Players must bind the command, "hook", to an easy to reach key. The syntax follows:

bind <key> "hook"

Replace <key> with any key on your keyboard. Example:

bind g "hook"

Now pressing the g key will fire the hook, pressing it again will release the hook.

--------------------------------------
Known bugs: if the map you are playing on has the lightning gun, then there will be some visual bugs with the hook. Instead of the normal beam that is shown, the lightning bolt will be used. Additionally, the model and beam won't show up until after the hook has hit an object. I am working on fixing these problems, but they do not affect the performance of the hook. It will still work fine, but look funny sometimes. I suggest using only maps without the lightning to counter this effect.

For CTF:

q3ctf1
q3ctf2
q3ctf3
q3ctf4

All of Zoid's maps (q3wctf1 - 3) have the lightning gun and will thus cause the hook to look wacky.

I apologize for these bugs, and will do my best to fix them.

Enjoy!
