 CHAPTER 1: About AUD Player
 ----------------------------
AUD Player was actually developed for use in the new RA-MIXer 5.x!
If you don't have RA-MIXer or want to use AUD Player from the DOS
prompt, read CHAPTER 2: How to use this program.
For installing it as an ADD-ON, please read section [2.1].

If you're running Windows 95/98, AUD Player also works as a
"background task", that means the AUD Player won't stop if you
 switch to another application!

For example, start AUD Player and then switch to your favorite 32-BIT
Office application - AUD Player should now play in the background!
This may not work, if you're using 16-BIT Soundcard drivers!

Thanks to all people who have sent me stuff about programming
the Soundblaster - I finally found a 114 page document on
 Creative's FTP-Server!

magazine, please get the authors permission: ramixer@gmx.net

 [1.2] Supported Soundcards
 --------------------------
AUD Play was designed to run on Soundblaster and 100% compatible
cards. If you're using Gravis Ultrasound card, try to load a Sound-
 blaster emulation!
Perhaps I'll add support for Gravis Ultrasound, Sound Man 16
and Pro Audio later - I'm not sure about that.

The AUD Player should work with all Soundblaster types, including
 the "good old" Soundblaster 1.0.

CHAPTER 2: How to use this program
 ----------------------------------
At the DOS prompt (or from a Win 3.x/95/NT shell) enter:

    audplay.exe <audfile[.aud]>

 Examples:
audplay bigf226m (AUD Player will play the file bigf226m.aud)
audplay test.aud (AUD Player will play test.aud)

Press ESC to quit the AUD Player and to return back to the prompt.

[2.1] Use AUD Player as ADD-ON
 ------------------------------
If you want to use AUD Player as an ADD-On for RA-MIXer, simply copy
all files from this archive to the directory where you've installed
 RA-MIXer 5.x (the directory with RAMIX.EXE).
 [Don't forget to restart RA-MIXer!]

Now you can play all AUD files (with IMA ADPCM compression) directly
from RA-MIXer! You can even play the old C&C files! Check out the
 "hidden" soundtracks!

 [2.2] The BLASTER Environment variable
 --------------------------------------
AUD Player uses the BLASTER variable to initialize the Soundblaster
and to figure out where to send the sound output.
This Environment variable is defined in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file via
the "SET" command. So, if the variable is missing, AUD Play won't work.

   SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5
   | | | | | |
   | | | | | |
   | | | | | |
   | | | | | |
   | | | | | |__________________ 16-bit DMA Channel
   | | | | |_____________________ 8-bit DMA Channel
   | | | |________________________ Interrupt
   | | |_____________________________ Port Address
   | |_____________________________________ Environment Variable
   |_________________________________________ DOS Command

If you don't know the correct settings or how to change the Address,
Interrupt or DMA, please refer to your Soundcard manual!

NOTE: There can be no spaces between the word BLASTER and the equal sign (=).
If you have a space in there, your system will set the parameter
       incorrectly.
