1.0 - Introduction
==================
The C&C Gold Editor is the first *real* editor for Command & Conquer: Gold Edition. The closest anyone has ever got to a real editor is a few UGE modules, which isn't really very useful.
So, I decided to make an Editor for GOLD.
The editor was actually started a long time ago, but progress was very slow as I didn't have much information on the format of the C&C GOld Executable. Well, around May 1998, I managed to get a BIG chunk of information that really helped me along in this program, thanks to Agent64 for that! I'd never have finished this editor if not for him...

2.0 Copyright and Notices
=========================
Command & Conquer, the Command & Conquer logo and all related products and logos are TradeMarks of WestWood Studios. Any trademarks not mentioned here are also acknowledged.

This program, CnCGEdit, is Copyright (C) 1998 by Roe Yun Song. All rights reserved.

This program is NOT part of the public domain.

You are granted the right to freely distribute this program with the
following restrictions:
I. It may not be included in cdrom compilations or on magazine
     cover disks without the express permission of the author.
II. That no charges be made for the copying or distribution of
     this program (beyond normal and reasonable access charges).
III. That no changes be made to any of these files.
IV. That the entire archive is included, not only the program.

The archive consists of: CnCGEdit.exe - The program itself
		         readme.txt     -   This file

If you get any other files in this archive, then the archive has been re-packaged and I cannot be held responsible for any damages that occur due to the use of the program.

If you would like the right to include this program and its files on a
cdrom compilation or magazine cover disk, write to the author at
roeysnwj@mbox3.singnet.com.sg on the internet for written permission.
Failure to ask for permission is a Copyright violation, and the magazine/organisation is accepting a copyright violation fine of US$500, US$2000 for cdrom compilations.

[NOTICES - IMPORTANT!]

* This program directly changes values in your C&C95.exe executable.
  You may want to backup your c&c95.exe file before you edit it. Although a 'backup'
  option is available within the editor, unexpected things CAN occur. I will not be held
  responsible for any damages that occur because of this.

* By using this program, you might be violating the lisence agreement with WestWood Studios.
  I am not liable if you do this.

* I cannot guarantee that this program will work on your system. It works on mine,
  It should on yours, too.

[REQUIREMENTS]

If you can play C&C95, then you can use this program.
In addition, at least 16MB of RAM is _required_ if you use this program. This is because of the amount of system resources CnCGEdit uses.

[MISC.]

Don't mail me about known bugs and problems! This will only hamper my fixing these problems, and you wouldn't want that, now, would you?

============
3.0 Features
============

- Ability to edit most unit values in C&C Gold.
- Backup utility, will backup your executable if you want.

Coming Soon:

- CnCGPatches! These will contain the data of your units, so you can send these to your friends, load them up in their own CnCGEdits, and modify their executable. This is for those of you who want to cheat on multiplayer!
- A 'Default Values' button, to restore your unit data to its default statistics. So far, only the backup features anything near this.

=========
4.0 Usage
=========

You may be wondering what idiot won't know how to use this editor, but you'd be surprised at the number of idiots around. You'd also probably have to get used to a few quirks of CnCGEdit...

Well, basically choose the appropriate tab: Vehicles, Infantry, Naval Units, Air Units, or Buildings. Then choose the unit you want to edit. Change whatever values you want, and save the data.

*NOTE* Quirk no. 1: If you modify any information, YOU MUST SAVE IT BEFORE GOING TO ANOTHER UNIT. Otherwise, CnCGEdit won't write the values to the file, and when you come back to your supposedly edited unit the default values will load.

Quirk no. 2: Sometimes, the value for some attribute may be '255' when you know it's actually '800' or '1500'. This is caused by some buggy code that isn't doing quite what I'd like it to do. It's easy to fix: USING YOU MOUSE, RE-SELECT THE UNIT YOU WANT TO EDIT. Now, the proper values should be loaded.

========
5.0 Bugs
========

- Not really a bug, but CnCGEdit uses a large amount of system resources, so don't run too many apps while your using CnCGEdit.

- Sometimes, the value for some attribute may be '255' when you know it's actually '800' or '1500'. This is caused by some buggy code that isn't doing quite what I'd like it to do. It's easy to fix: USING YOU MOUSE, RE-SELECT THE UNIT YOU WANT TO EDIT. Now, the proper values should be loaded.

- This only happens infrequently: sometimes CnCGEdit may just delete your executable AND the backup without any notice. It only happened once with my system, so it may have been the act of another program. You have been warned, though. Backup you C&C95.exe seperately!

- Vehicle's aren't saved when you click on the 'save' button! I'm working on this, it should be fixed soon.
*NOTE* Fixed as of June 1st, 1998, v. 1.0b(a).
