                   !!!! IMPORTANT !!!!

TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE SCAVENGERS YOU MUST GO TO NAV 2 OR NAV 3
AND PICK UP OR DESTROY THE AMMO PACK IN FRONT OF THE SCAVS

                   !!!! IMPORTANT !!!!

I don't think it's possible to beat this mission single handed.
You will need to build lots of offensive units (bombers work best for me)
and use some strategy.

The Story so far.........

You've spent some tough months fighting for your life on godforsaken airless
lumps of rock around the solar system. You've earned a break and get orders
to take command of a new training base on the planet Whatever.

This is more like it, you think, Mediterranean climate,
rolling green hills, an easy life and best of all, no CCA to disturb your
sleep. The base doesn't have much equipment yet so you've been ordered to
take an MUF and some training vehicles over the mountains and get it set up.
You are to rendezvous with a couple of scouts and they will escort you to the
base at NAV 1. There's more equipment at the outposts at NAV 2 and NAV 3 but
there's no rush, you can get that picked up in the morning. Life can be good
                after all.

You get to the rendezvous point but no sign of the escort. It's been a long
trip and you're busting for a leak so you hop out of your tank. Just then
you hear the sound of engines. Must be the escort. Strange, they should be
heading up from the base to the south west, but it sounds like they're
coming from behind you, must be the way noise echos in the mountains. Hold
on..........they don't sound like NSDF scouts.............the last time you
                heard that sound............oh shit!

Installation Instructions
-------------------------
Before you begin exit Battlezone if it is running.

1) All the files in the zip file need to be unzipped into your BattleZone\addon directory (folder).

2) If you play around with the .aip file you might get it to work better. If you do, let me know.

3) Hit START choose RUN and type in the box:

   "C:\battlezone\bzone.exe" looknotr.bzn /nointro

(including the " ") then click on OK. (this assumes the game is installed in C:\battlezone)

If you have further problems, please contact me at mick.brown@virgin.net

Additional information
----------------------
Apart from a base and some units I've only given you an MUF so you can't build an armory,
give yourself twin sp-stabbers and destroy everything single handed. You have 6 scavs
(3 at NAV-2 and 3 at NAV-3) and you can't control them until you go to the NAV and collect
or destroy the ammo pack they are following. Because you've got no recycler these cannot
be replaced so they *must* be protected. The same applies to the base buildings. There is
an extra silo and geyser at NAV-2 so if your base really gets hammered you might be able
to set up again there.

I've done it this way to force the player to build and use offensive units to win the game
as this is the way I like playing. If you try to do it on your own in your tank you will
die (although I expect somebody will prove me wrong). I've found maxing out on bombers works
best for me and I swap my tank for a bomber for the second half. If you just sit in your
base and wait for the attacks you will also fail as there will be lots of walkers and
bombers dropping in to say hello and you can't replace or repair your gun towers and buildings.

The trigger/timer substitute is done by putting the CCA scavs in steep sided closed valleys with
a certain amount of scrap and a silo each. They start off 'following' repair kits or units
elsewhere on the map so they won't collect. Once the repair is picked up by a damaged CCA
walker on a long path the first scav is released and starts collecting scrap so there is
suddenly extra money for unit production (this is the 'timer'). The other scav is following
a stationary CCA unit so when the when the player gets to that point and destroys this unit
another wave of unit building is set off (this is the 'trigger'). Sometimes it works
perfectly and other times the AI just builds loads of units but keeps them in it's base which
makes the middle section of the game a bit quiet and the final assault complete mayhem.
Occasionally it will send out about 15 bombers at once and anihilate you if you're not careful.
The problem seems to be the random element built into the AI which swamps the settings in the
.aip file. In fact I have my suspicions that the .aip file doesn't do anything except decide
number and type of units to build.

You don't need to destroy the CCA silos or scavs for the mission to end (they're quite hard to
get to) but you must remember to go back and destroy the turrets in the mountain pass in the
North near where you start.
