Situation Report to NSDF Command:

Arkin was never found after the final battle on Alpha Centauri 3.  Tracking the ion trail of their
interstellar cruiser has led the NSDF task force to Alpha Centauri 4.  This is where things 
started getting strange.  After establishing a base, Arkin's modified turret tanks began 
appearing from out of nowhere.  Several eye witnesses claim that they instantly appeared 
out of thin air.  Also, several of our tank units began firing on one another for no apparent 
reason.  The pilots later stated that they remembered nothing of those incidents.

If these claims are true, then it means that Arkin has found some of the missing Cthonian 
technology and has been putting it to use.  This technology may include cloaking, Fury
technology and mind control.  To make matters worse, the intelligence officer has decrypted
some transmissions suggesting that Arkin is making preparations to have a new recycler 
constructed using a modified construction rig.

Additionally, three groups have been detected approaching the base from the West.  The
first  two are closing in, but they are small.  The third is is a ways off, but is by far the largest. 
The origin of all these units is anybody's guess at the moment.



Mission Briefing:

Commander,

The situation does not look hopeful.  Despite our victories, Arkin's war machine seems to
be  getting stronger.  Our resources on Alpha Centauri 4 have been quickly depleted and
many units have not returned from their patrols.  However we may have found something
that could turn the tides in our favor.  According to Cthonian records, there is a relic to the 
South of your position which contains something described as "essence of biometal".  You 
must see to it that this relic is returned safely to the base.  The Cthonian records are being 
interpreted as we speak, so inspect the relic for more information as it becomes available.

After repelling the two smaller attack groups, you must quickly destroy Arkin's constructor 
before it has a chance to build a new Black Dog recycler. If you are too late to prevent this, 
forget about the constructor and destroy that recycler at all costs!  The choice of offensive
units is yours Commander, but you should consider building some modified wolverine units for
this assault.  No other units can withstand Arkin's powerful weaponry.

Finally, the largest attack wave from the West must be destroyed before it gets to the base.
Use all means at your disposal to weaken and destroy this attack force while it is en route.  An
artillery unit has been deployed in the area to soften them up as much as possible.  This attack 
wave must be destroyed before it gets too close!

Installation Instructions

Before you begin, exit Battlezone if it is running.

1) All the files in the zip file need to be unzipped into your BattleZone\addon directory 
   (folder).

2) Do not modify any of the files in any way!  The map will no longer work and/or lose
   multiplayer compatability.

3) WARNING about the b_soprod.odf file:  If you have a custom b_soprod.odf file (for adding 
custom units during map editing) in your addon directory, the AI probably won't function correctly.   Enemy units may not be produced (what fun would that be?).  I have no idea why this happens, but I've seen it happen with maps (mine and others) having custom odf files.   I suggest you remove it from the addon directory (or modify its name by 1 character).

Game Startup
------------
Do not play this game with the /edit option.  Otherwise, the .hgt file might be modified 
when the constructor builds units.

In order for the mission to function as intended, you should exit Battlezone before 
restarting a mission over again.

Frame rate may decrease after going to sattelite view.  To correct this, hit the "esc" key 
and then return to the game.

These files will in no way affect any other missions (unless by strange coincidence they 
have odfs of the same name).  This mission uses the following odf files from Get Arkin I:
getar0.odf, getar2.odf, getar5.odf, getar6.odf, getar7.odf, getar8.odf, getar9.odf, 
getar10.odf and getar11.odf

getar13.odf through getar21.odf, and getar17.inf are new files for this mission.

All other files for this mission are in the form of getarkn3.*.
