                                 WORLD II [.WAD]
                                ==========
 Play Information
==================

Doom Version : DOOM. (v 1.9 - but should work on any)
Episode and Level # : E2M1 - M9 (inc.)
Single Player : Yes
Cooperative 2-4 Player : Yes, but only tested for 2 players
Deathmatch 2-4 Player : Yes, but only recommended on levels 8 & 9
Difficulty Settings : Yes
New Sounds : No
New Graphics : No (but I'm trying)
New Demos : No (though I tried)
Editor(s) Used : DEU v5.0, v5.1 & BSP v1.0
Known Bugs : On level 4 there's a secret area with a crushing
ceiling, and if done with light-amp goggles all
the textures on the walls move & it looks very
naff. Also, sometimes HOM on level 5 - it's not
my fault, there's too much for the engine to
display. Oh, and spelling mistakes in this file.
Time taken : Lets see... I started it at Christmas '94 &
finished it June '95, changed a level a week
ago... so, 6 months, on and off and on and off...

I have rules, and reading these will give you help in completing this
.WAD WITHOUT CHEATING. But as if you would. Cheat. I mean, nobody cheats.
Anyway :
       i) I don't make acid/blood/water take health off if the player has
to stay on it for a long time. This is to stop those unfair
moments when you make a dash for a lift but have to wait on water
(see Map 09 in DOOM II for a good example). If acid/blood/water
does take health off then there is always a dead body of something
on it. The only exception to this is level 2 - none of the blood
on that level takes health off.
ii) I do not rely on darkness to make the levels good - there are no
really dark areas where you can't see a bloody thing, and there
are no large flashing areas (they make my eyes hurt).
iii) I do not rely on impossible traps (like, you are faced with
six zillion spiderdemons & all you have is a pistol) to make the
levels hard - in fact, they're not that hard at all, and after
level 4 you should have all the weapons (if you've found all the
          secret places).
iv) All secret areas are visable - just like in the original DOOM (tm).
If it isn't then there will be some indicator on the map.
       v) Not one wall in any level has the Startan smegging 3 texture on it
(for those of you who don't know Startan 3 is the default texture
on DEU v5.0, because it's used in the shareware version of DOOM
a great deal, but, strangely it looks good in id's levels, but
never does in most other people's).

The following list is what the levels are called, just to give this .WAD
a sense of .. er.. something (N.B., I didn't spend too long on this bit).

Level 1 - The Old City. Level 2 - The Prison.

Level 3 - Crossroads Level 4 - Acid Control.

Level 5 - The Castle. Level 6 - Maze.

Level 7 - Their Den. Level 8 - The End.

Level 9 - Squares.

Any comments would be welcome as it's nice to get feedback and people's
opinions. By the way, if you don't have 8 mb of RAM of a DX2/66 (I don't)
then I recommend making the viewing window smaller - it jerks quite a lot
on my 486 SX/33, but, most of all - enjoy the DOOM experience AND don't
cheat.

** Disclaimer **
If you wish to alter these levels then you have my permission, but you must
say that I put in many hours making these levels. It would also be nice if
you would send me a copy of any alterations you make - I'll return disks
if you want. If, by some horrid reason, you PC and/or DOOM goes wrong when
using this .WAD it is through no fault of my own, and I cannot be blamed.
Most of all - DO NOT CHEAT, or Thy Flesh will be surely Consumed be the
Devil, and that really can't be very nice at all.

Alex Moore, 10/08/1995.
