		-Sandstone Crypt-
	   DEATHMATCH LEVEL FOR QUAKE II
================================================
Level last updated: 26.12.98
================================================
*title: Sandstone Crypt (V1.0)
*Filename: APQ2DM1
*Author: Andrew Palmer (Thanatopsis)
*E-mail: andrew@palmernet.demon.co.uk
*Homepage: clans.quake2.co.uk/dystopia
	(my clan homepage)
================================================
*Single Player: No
*Co-operative: Obviously not
*Deathmatch: Yes! (4-12, 14 spawn points)
*Teamplay: A definite possibility (4 on 4)
================================================
*Installation: This level has one new texture
which you will need to install to get the map to
run correctly. It is included in this .zip file.

First install the map by unzipping apq2dm1.bsp
into your /quake2/baseq2/maps directory. Next
create a subdir in your baseq2 called textures.
You will then need to create another subdir
called ktimpakt. The directory should look
something like /quake2/baseq2/textures/ktimpakt.
Extract the ktpalmet.wal texture into this new
directory and then run the map as normal.

*Level Info: This level is my first for the
KT-impAKt pack I am working on with Martin
"Killer" Kilcoyne. Before I go any further I'd
just like to mention that if this level has
problems which are made clear after it has been
reviewed then I will change it before putting it
in the pack. The pack will contain around 8 top
quality deathmatch maps and should be available
by sometime in the first quarter of 1999.

Anyway, onto the level info. This level is a
medium sized dm level which can contain a decent
number of *human* players. Eraser bots seem to
cluster together and not really make use of all
the space. The level uses the Q2DM6 sandstone
textures with a few other styles thrown in too.
Playwise, it has seven main rooms, six of which
have multiple layers. All the rooms are very
distinct so learning the level should not be a
problem. There are a couple of moving things in
the level. A trap protects the quad damage which
fills the container it's in with lava - it's
still possible to escape and once you know how,
it's quite simple. One of the larger rooms has a
switch on the upper floor which closes doors for
about 20 seconds, trapping people on the lower
floor in. They could climb up the crates but
would be easy pickings for anyone else. This room
is a riot if enough people are trapped on the lower
floor, splashing about in the knee deep water.
Almost all the rooms have lots of links to get to
higher levels be they stairs, lifts, crates or
ladders. Watch out on the ladders as you are
likely to get shot in the back.
*Weapons Info: The level contains all weapons
with the usual exception of the BFG10K, if anyone
thinks it, or any other weapons should be placed
differently, please contact me about it. There are
two of all weapons up to the chaingun aswell. As
far as items go, there is a quad damage,
adrenaline, power armour, backpack and bandolier.
Of course, there is lots of health and armour to
aid your killing habit.
*Intermssion: Of course
================================================
*Basis: Completely new level although the main
sources of inspiration come from Q2DM6 and Greg
Barrs Mgory - both fantastic maps in my opinion.
*Build Time: Far too long
*Editor Used: Worldcraft 1.6a (woohoo!)
*Compile System: K6200 with 64mb RAM
*Compile Time: 1.5 hours, more specifically:
	QBSP  = 101 seconds
	VIS   = 4664 seconds
	LIGHT = 1662 seconds
*Map Information: Solids = 1941
		  Faces  = 11423
		  Solidentities = 11
		  Pointentities = 310
*Speed Info: r_speeds are never much above 700
anywhere in the map and are mostly around 400 to
500. The map should run fine on a reasonable spec
machine (mine runs fine in hardware mode with a
3dfx voodoo2 board).

map, or any of my other maps (see below), please

The number is the score on MPQ:

Quake I: APDM0 - The tower (not reviewed)
	  APDM1 - The furnace (4/5)
	  APDM2 - The Underground Base (3.5/5)
	  APDM4 - The Lava Pools (4/5)
	  APDM5 - Castle of Carnage (4/5)
	  APRA1 - Shattered Nerves (not reviewed)
Quake II: APQ2DM1 - Sandstone Crypt (not reviewed)

Duke 3D: The_Base - The Base (not reviewed)

(you cannot get APRA1.zip or the_base.zip anywhere
except by emailing me with a request, I didn't see
the point of releasing them. APRA1 is for Rocket
Arena and is untested and the_base is a single
player Duke3d level which was my first ever level
and isn't bad at all for a first attempt.)

*Additional credits:
-Martin Kilcoyne for making KT-imPAKt with me and
coming up with the cool name for it :)

level that I have missed out
