LAN-us Maximus! took place in Phoenix, AZ on March 20th, 1999. Over 100 people signed up for the event in hopes of gaining entrance to this heavily sponsored and highly-anticipated show of LAN-gaming goodness.

18 sponsors in all took advantage of this event to deliver gratuitously prize-laden packages of donated, full-blown, retail products and event-exclusive giveaway material as well.

Participating sponsors included: Mad Catz (http://www.madcatz.com), Bazooka Speaker Systems (http://www.bazooka.com), Videologic (http://www.videologic.com), Activision (http://www.activision.com), Sierra Software (http://www.sierra.com), Dynamix (http://www.dynamix.com), Cavedog Entertainment (http://www.cavedog.com), Bioware (http://www.bioware.com), Bungie Software (http://www.bungie.com), Monolith (http://www.lith.com), Raven Software (http://www.ravensoft.com), GameSpy Industries (http://www.gamespy3d.com), PC Accelerator Magazine (http://www.pcxl.com), HEAT.net (http://www.heat.net) and SegaSoft (http://www.segasoft.com).

All participating sponsors were given the ability to develop a relationship with their target audience and fans, all-the-while being publically advertised within our event in the form of a giant projector driven and full PA broadcasted multimedia show called 'Channel K-LAN'.

The heart of our network was a high-performance 20 port fast ethernet switch donated for use by Cisco Networks (http://www.cisco.com), designers of the world's most cutting-edge LAN hardware.

Hoby Bupert, owner of legendary Florida based BAWLS Guarana (http://www.bawls.com) had crates of their super-charged energy beverage, BAWLS, delivered in advance for the event's setup crew and friends too. Was that ever helpful!

New Times voted 'Phoenix's Best-Electronic Band' of 1999 "Radio Free America" (http://radiofreeamerica.net) guitarist, Tim Elas made a quick appearance to drop off armloads of their latest CDs, stickers, t-shirts and posters for use as free gamer giveaways in support of our event.

Local Arizonan webmaster, Evil Avatar (http://www.evilavatar.com), worked with us to secure the rights to acquire and freely distribute Sierra subsidiary, Valve Software's previously unreleased 'Team Fortress Classic' for the gaming community's mega hit of the year, 'Half-Life'; exclusively ahead of the press and other top-notch gaming review sources. The result - a premeire, playable release available ONLY to the A.L.L. and it's members before the rest of the world!

Every hour on the hour, during the bash, up to 10 paid participants' names were drawn at random for a trip to our super-large, sponsor-produced, prize table. We made sure that everyone that attended walked home with something they didn't arrive with.

There's no doubt about it, the A.L.L. OWNS the gaming scene in Arizona. If you live in Arizona and want to hook up with the hardest of the hardcore gamers in the state, check us out at http://www.lanparty.com/all and be sure to GAME ON!
