Introduction:
        It's amazing what kind of people we have out there. We have a
fantastic team, under the command of Norb and Mother, that has created a fantasic MOD called King of the Server. For any questions, please consult the FAQ below!
Welcome to the KotS FAQ!

- Just what IS KotS?
        KotS, also known as "King of the Server", is a MOD of many things.
It is a player ranking MOD, where when you play, your stats (kills and deaths) are
recorded and updated daily on a scoreboard. This is a great way to increase
traffic on your site!
        KotS is a server side MOD, meaning that only a server admin needs to
download the files to have the player, who doesn't need to download
anything, play on thier server.
        KotS is also a MOD that has points in it. These points are not just to
help you rank yourself on a server. These points help you earn cool techs
and upgrades when you reach a certain point level.
        The point system has changed again! Maintaining the Health-Point-Removed
system, we have redesigned the system so the game is friendly to both prey
and predator! The following questions will explain the point system, "Norb"
style.
        If you plan to run a KotS Server, thats great! Just scroll down the page,
or just head onto the KotS Page! The fantastic MOD for LAN parties, or a
little spice to your DM!

* - So, just how does the frag points work?? (speech at end of FAQ)
	Formula for death (if lower level): 4 * Level = lost points
	Formula for kill (if higher level): ldiv = 10 + Level Difference * 5
						  health-off / 1div = point bonus

- How do I make a password for myself in KotS?
        Simply type in the line below in the console when you wish to join
KotS:
                        set kots_password <yourpass> u
        The **u** is necessary, because it tells us you're a player. Enter this
once, and select "Start your Regin" and enter! If it doesn't work, place it in
again (press the up arrow once), and hit enter. An easy way to remember
your KotS password is to make a Config (CFG) file in your baseq2 directory.

- A CFG file? Whats that?
        .CFG is a config file. Quake2 can read these and use the commands
in them. If you do not know what a config is, please visit the UQSA homepage at
http://members.xoom.com/Jonmaster/. It's there on the sidebar link!

- Why do I need to make a password for myself in KotS?
        Although not nessary, it's wise to do that because it protects your
identity on KotS. The player name you use SAVES your points, health, armor,
and equipment you had the time before you quitted the game.

- DOH! I forgot my password! What can I do?
        Depends on the situation. If the server is part of the GDS, then just
Email Norb or Mother, and they'll reset your password no problem

- Wait! If there is no one in the server, is there still things to do?
        Of course! Although there are no bots or anything, you can walk
around and pick up stuff. ALL the stuff you manage to pick up will be saved into your personal account (your player name), and when you return, it will be still
there, in the gleaming shine that it was when you left the game! Except Power Shields, Quads, and Invulns. Those are in a special catagory and won't be saved with you!

- What?? I saved up a buncha health and it reset back to my max limit! What
gives?
        Do YOU think it's stupid when you can't kill someone with 999
health and 999 body armor? We decided to only have the health collected from that
level to be used on that level, so there isn't any "god" wanna-be's with 999 health walking around on all the levels.

** - Why doesn't a Power Shield (armor) act like one?
	It has decided to take form upon a morphed Dorkachu... wait! No, seriously, it has taken itself to be a Max Armor upgrade, so when you pick it up, it will max out your armor!

** - Whats this big surprise in a the bandolier and adrenaline packs?
	It's something limited... And not in packpacks... It's... For me to know, and you to find out!

** - And why is the "store" link a "dead" link?
	It's not because the "store" is "dead". It's because we are implementing a store soon for KotS, intelligantly named Mother's, where you can buy stuff online to be placed in your KotS account! Cool eh?

- What is the cool thing in KotS?
        Besides a ranking system that compares you to other people that
play on KotS supported servers, you get cool, PERMANENT techs that are pretty cool. Who doesn't want permanent health regeneration? How about a resist rune or
a strength tech? These are the things that set KotS apart from other MODs!
They are:
        Health Regen, Ammo Increase and Quick weapon switch, resist, vampire,
silencer, strength, haste, Ammo Plus, Flying (Jetpack), and Cloaking!

- Great! Where do I jump in to start fragging my way to the royal chair?
        There are many servers out there, but here are the 2 most updated
ones (* indicated offline temporarly)
        24.48.19.252:27910 | Norb's KotS server | 6 Player Maximum
        *134.193.111.10:27910 | Mother's KotS server | 14 Player Maximum
        *24.66.226.243:27930 | LtJonmaster's Server | 16 Player Maximum

- WoOP!! I Love this MOD! It 0WnZ me! Where can I download it?
        If you have some extra space on that great server or yours, of
course you can download the MOD! It's all at http://www.planetquake.com/kots/! The
admin tool and stuff is all there!
        NOTE: Only the Windows Version is out. Sorry all Penguin and Rainbow Color

will be deleted off the list, no questions asked. We will do so under the
conditions where we have proof, and no other. YOU cheat, you WILL
ultimately pay the price.

KOTS Crew:
       Cheating in KOTS is very simple to understand. It is you and your
buddy killing each other without really fighting for points. It is you starting
your own server with dummy players to get kills. It's basically when you
don't really earn your points.

** Point system:

************** Norb pushes LtJonmaster off the stage to explain **************
Sooo.... If Suicide goes suicidal...
Suicide is a level 4. He goes visiting the lava gods, so:
4 * Level = lost points
Suicide (Level 4) loses 16 points for a suicide.
        Player A - Level 4 - 140 health
        Player B - Level 1 - 110 health
Now three examples - for these examples we'll assume the kill was done
removing all the health:
                Example 1: A kills B (High kills Low)
ldiv = 10 + Level Difference * 5
ldiv = 10 + 3 * 5
ldiv = 25
        *** AND ***
110 / 25 = 4 points
        *** SO ***
Player A gains 4 points
Player B loses none since *Player A is a higher Level*
                Example 2: B kills A (Low kills High)
ldiv = 10 - Level Difference
ldiv = 10 - 3
ldiv = 7
        *** AND ***
140 / 7 = 20 points
        *** SO ULTIMATELY ***
Player B gains 20 points
        *** BUT ***
Penalty = ( diff + 1 ) * 2
Penalty = ( 3 + 1 ) * 2
Penalty = 8
        *** SO ULTIMATELY ***
Player A loses 8 points for being killed by a Level 1

        Example 3: A kills B
        *** BUT ***
Player A & Player B are both Level 4
        *** SO ***
ldiv = 10 - 0
ldiv = 10
140 / 10 = 14 points
        *** SO ***
Player A gains 14 points
        *** AND ***
Penalty = ( diff + 1 ) * 2
Penalty = ( 0 + 1 ) * 2
Penalty = 2
        *** SO ULTIMATELY ***
Player A loses 2 points
