HOW TO PLAY MATRIX QUAKE ON THE MACINTOSH

This nice Quake 2 mod has been developed for the pc, nevertheless you are able to play it on your mac although you don't have the correct game dll.
The game dll is the file that contains all the specific stuff of a mod. In Matrix Quake ti contains code for quake 2 to enable the players to walk on the walls, fly, stop bullets and all that kind of Matrix things. This code is fully portable from PC to Macintosh but you can't use the PC dll on your mac and also cannot use the mac lib to play on your PC. The reason is simple :the dll must be compiled on the corresponding game platform. So you're going to tell me "Why are youbabbling about that then, if there's no way to play a mod if i don't have the mac dll ?". Well, there's a workaround. The fact is that you only need the dll that if you want to HOST games using this mod, as JOINING and PLAYING do NOT require the dll (you will need the client pak files, however; to allow Quake to display the items that the mod designers have created).
Here's the way to go (which works also on all the other mods that dont have mac specific dlls) :
1-You must download the mod. Well, if you're reading this then it means you already have :)
You must download the mod because the pak files are needed to play.
2-Install it like you would do for another mod. Installing means moving the mod's directory in your Quake 2 folder so that it appears in the same window as your baseq2 folder and your Quake 2 app.
3-Now you can join multiplayer games just like you usually do with other Mac-friendly mode, and it will work just fine.

If you want to HOST a game, well host on your freind's PC or ask the mod developer for a Mac port. Currently i've heard that Matrix Quake2 will have a Mac version so when it will be out you won't have to bug them anymore :)

I hope i've helped you or at least informed you.
Have fun with Matrix Quake !
