Description : Our elusive hit-man Citizen Abel
                          makes a return. His routine
                          mission proceeds exactly as
                          planned -- that is, until
                          Abel decides otherwise...

level review sites who took the time
to try out my first Citizen Abel. and
a big thanks to everyone who emailed
me about the first Citizen Abel. The
                          feedback was very appreciated!

* Play Information *

Single Player : yes
Deathmatch : no

Cooperative : no
Difficulty Settings : no

to run the map, just unzip all the files
into the quake2 directory. Be SURE
to maintain subdirectories. There are
demo files (.dm2) that need to go into
the demos directory.

Then, at the console, type:

map savior1

* Notes *

There are demo cutscenes included within these maps. So
when they start playing, simply don't hit any keys,
and they will play fine. Unfortunately, the gun remains
there (I couldn't figure out how to take it out in
cutscenes), which looks a bit odd. You could bind
a key to "hand 2", which will manually make the hand
disappear, but that's the only solution I can think of.

Note that in these maps, you are working for a corporation,
so do be sure to identify who is the enemy and who are your
allies while playing! In other words, look before you
fire, you do not begin with everyone your enemy.
(and besides, you'll save a few bullets this way)

Also, if you have an OpenGL accelerated Quake2, then type in at
the console:

gl_shadows 1

This will add some nifty shadow effects that id software put in
Quake2. Try out all your spq2 levels with it on, it really
makes everything look nicer. If you don't like it, then just
turn it off with:

gl_shadows 0

* Story *

Wanted in four solar systems. Multiple accounts of
            Murder.
                Burglary.

He is none other than Citizen Abel:
The most efficient and economical hit-man in the galaxy.

Date:	September 20

	General-Purpose Fellow

Re:	Free-lance job proposition

Dear Mr. Abel:

This letter shall confirm the job offering that you have accepted
on behalf of the HEB Corporate Conglomeration. Please note that
while we are dully impressed with your past efforts in helping
our associates (including retrieving the Red Box for our
Dr. Rennie) we would prefer that you keep a lower profile
this time around. The HEB Corporate Conglomeration has a
reputation to upkeep.

You will be flown to the small city of Crestland, where you will
stay within the Crestland Motel. Feel free to enjoy their
complimentary mints, but please make a conscious effort toward
keeping all expenditures to a pleasant minimum.

At 1:00 am, you are to sneak out of your motel room and make your
way to Kealing Manor. Within the Kealing Manor grounds, there is
an A&M Cannon Turret. Your job application states expertise in
electronics: please perform a manual DOBIE override to disable
this cannon turret; the control panel should be at ankle-level.
Then, proceed to the rooftop chimneys and ignite your green flares.

Total disclosure of the job's details are not necessary. However,
we do recommend that you leave the premises quickly after disabling
the cannon turret. Expect HEB Infantry Division forces to storm
Kealing Manor after you ignite the flares. We warn you to stay
out of the way of our ground operation from that point onwards.
Failure to do so may result in dire consequences.

The HEB Corporate Conglomerate is willing to pay top dollar for
your services, Mr. Abel. We hope to continue a healthy and
respectable business relation with you. Approach with extreme
prejudice to earn yourself an honest buck.

* Other Info *

This is my second single-player map. My first SP map was
"Citizen Abel: The Self-Entitled Adventure."

My main sources of inspiration were Looking Glass Studio's
THIEF and Shiny Entertainment's MDK. Their gameplay simply
offered such unique single-player experiences, which got
me out of my deathmatch-only mentality.

Squaresoft's Final Fantasy VII was also a big influence.
I really enjoyed the fine weaving between cut-scenes
and grand storyline.

Hopefully the locales are a bit more atmospheric now.
There are more ambient sound effects buzzing around
(And no more pitch-black areas that force you to use
your blaster as a flashlight!) and a bit more polished
now.

Technically-wise, the r_speeds are friendlier now.
That means that lower-end machines won't struggle
as hard (hopefully).

Thanks if you downloaded this map. If you have
any comments, questions, or requests, please
feel free to e-mail me at blender81@hotmail.com

thanks
