SoldierSkins Templates for PhotoShop
************************************
Compiled by Gabriel DraX (drax@hereticii.com)

The included PSD files are 512x512 renderings of the 4 skin segments used for the soldier class model for Unreal Tournament.
Each file contains two layers: The original skin at full opacity, and a 50% transparent layer containing simply the wireframe overlay.

USE/INSTALLATION:

Open these files in either Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro (or any other editor that can read photoshop formatted files) and edit the files to your liking, making sure that you are only writing to the layer that is 100% opaque. When you are done editing the files, your best bet is to save it as a photoshop file still at this resolution.

Then, remove the wireframe layer and resize your skin to 256x256 (depending upon your preferences, you may want to sharpen the image a bit before you shrink it down). Then save this file as a pcx, and convert the skin files as you normally would to compile your UTx texture package and write the necessary int file.

For further instructions on how to compile these, you can check out Painful Detail at http://www.unreality.org/painfuldetail/.

These files are free for download and use, I only ask that you follow the six commandments of skinning (which are the same regardless of what game it is for):

1. Thou shalt not copy and paste from the work of others, naming it as the work of thineself.
2. Thou shalt not create an all-black skin, as this is an obvious attempt at invisibility, and is symbolic of lack of talent and extremely hgh llama potential.
3. Thou shalt not design skins that do not enhance the model, as this is an insult to the hard work of the modeler themselves.
4. Thou shalt not reverse the team colors of a skin, because it shall confuse others within their arena.
5. Thou shalt include a readme file with every skinpak, else face potential confusion at a later date.
6. Thou shalt include explicit instructions with every skinpak referencing how to install it, for one never knows when a newbie is attempting to use skins, and while those of more gaming experience can readily enjoy skins at their leisure, there is no reason that one who has just begun their gaming experience should not also have thiers enhanced.
7. You must bow and worship me. (okay, that's not really a commandment)
