DRIP v1.0 (01/01/99)

What?
=====

Drip is a Decal RIPper for Valve's Half Life.
Ever been fragged while adoring someones stunning decals, only to wish you too had the artistic talent to create one like that? Tired of having someone spray their decal all over your corpse as they egon you to the floor YET AGAIN? Time to get some revenge. Use their decals against them!

DRIP will examine your custom.hpk data file found in HalfLife's Valve folder, and extract all of the decals that your opponents have been using against you. It will then write each one out to its own bitmap (.bmp) file. Simply grab the ones you want to use and copy them into your Half Life's 'logos' directory. Fire up Half Life and go to Multiplayer/Customise and select the decal of choice.

Usage
=====

Simply place the drip.exe into the same directory as the .hpk file you want to examine.
Then run DRIP from DOS using drip.exe <-i> <filename.hpk>. If you fail to specify a file name it will look for custom.hpk by default. The -i switch allows you to create the decals with a reversed color palette, giving you a 'negative' effect. (This option was included because it seems some decals use different palette scales ascending and descending. If a decal looks weird try using the -i switch)

NOTE!
=====

This product is unsupported, unofficial and unauthorised. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. The author will not be held responsible for anything that happens as a result of the use of this program. Care has been taken to make sure that it doesnt damage any of your data files. But as its simply my interpretation of the internal data format of the .hpk file there is plenty of reason to assume that it may not be 100% accurate. As with any unofficial software, I recommend you create a backup of your .hpk file before running this program.

Finally
=======
You'll probably notice a large portion of the .bmp's are valves standard ones. I guess some people are too lazy to create their own huh? :)

If you happen to come across a custom.hpk it doesnt work on chances are it has some weird data case I havent seen yet. Feel free to zip it up and send it to decalripper@hotmail.com.
This was written to work with half life v1.06 for win32 and may or may not work with other versions.
