This is my first finished map for Quake2.  It's revolutionary in that it makes extensive use of a special feature (bug?) of the Quake2 engine that I discovered.  I call it slide skating.

FASTER THAN A SPEEDING ROCKET!
A slide skater can, with practice, achieve speeds up to ten times faster than a normally running quake2 marine.  During testing I've been able to fire several rockets while standing still, take off after them and overtake them before they hit the far wall.  Ditto for blaster shots.  That's fast!

HOW TO SLIDE SKATE:
It only works on the track.  Get in a lane and use the slide/strafe keys to push sideways against the rails.  Don't even bother with the forward button.  It'll just slow you down.

This was originally intended to be a straight deathmatch level, but due to my love of the Gloom mod by Team Reaction, I had to do it for Gloom first.  I'd like to thank them for making one of the best mods for Quake2 I've played.

It's extensively optimized for speed, though some areas have r_speeds a bit higher than I'd like.  I'll likely improve it even further in the future.
