!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[][][][][][][][][]

Requirements

WIN 95 / WIN 3.X

[][][][][][][][[][]

Installation

The Sthing1.zip Archive,
should contain Three files.
Sthing.txt
stv101.EXE
file_ID.DIZ

Skin Thing is a WIN95 / WIN 3.X
program,
it's a breeze to install.

Unzip the archive
into a temporary dir,
then double click on
stv101b.EXE.
It installs everything
automatically.
You should now find
Skin Thing registered
on your program files
drop up list from the WIN95
start bar icon/button.
The actual program itself,
creates it's own Sthing DIR.
Now, you are ready to really look good!

Skin Thing

Features

Win95 Install Routine

Multi Speed Skin browser
The bottom half of the main screen is the
Skin Browser the bottom image shows the current
browser image, the top is your currently set skin.
(unless you need to change your Config file - the
ZX skin will be there instead:) The browser is
controlled by the Video Player style buttons.
To change the skin browser directory, just make
the appropriate changes to the Dir box provided.
The browse interval sets the delay once the
browser begins.

Configuration File update facility
The user has the abilty to use the browsed skin
or a random skin from the browse directory in any
.cfg file. Once either of the buttons are pressed
the .cfg file is updated, instantly!!!
To change locations / name of your config file
click the 'change config' button, this will open
a new form. This consists of two Dir/file boxes.
Any changes made are shown in the current settings
box. Click Keep Changes when your happy with the
settings shown.

Intelligent handling of corrupt skin files,
i.e, nothing can stop Skin Thing!

Also has the built in ability
to view/run F12 screenshots

Actually Skin Thing
allows animated DIR browsing of
any old bunch of PCX's,
(yer, I wanted this prog for a long time...)

The primary feature of Skin Thing v101,
is to allow you to browse 'hands free'
through the copious numbers of great looking
Quake/Quakeworld player skins,
that have been made by all of us,
and decide which one
to wear out.....

Skin Thing has Animation Control.
In the form of a standard VCR like
transport control bar.
You can adjust the rate of playback
of the skins to suit your own purpose.
At the moment,
Maximum playback speed is limited to
Ten frames per seconds approx.
A text input box allows you
additional ability to define
the rate of playback more specifically.

    Known Bugs

The major bug in version 101,
has been eliminated.
Skin Thing now saves your updated
directory information, after you close,
regardless of where/which drive,
your Quake dir is located on

Special Thanx to the Quake Skin Authors/artists,
who have had their art locked in the closet/skins dir too long.

Also Thanx to Stephen at Boabyte computers for
letting me rave to Khanage whilst he was at work.

Simo, Scarab and Stephen Connor and Andrew Booth.

It's been a lot of fun doing Skin Thing,
hope you like it enough to
use it.
