Have you alwyas wanted to learn to speak llama, but lacked the time/effort/idiocy
to pursue it? Well, I got your answer right here. This insy weensy .pak file
goes in your /Quake2/baseq2/ dir. It's pak9.pak, so it shouldnt overwrite anything.

This .pak file also replaces your numbers and icons for items.

FAQ

Q. I alredy have a pak9.pak in my/Quake2/baseq2/ dir. What should I do?

A. Rename the pak9.pak in your /Quake2/baseq2/ dir to pak9.bak, then unzip this archive.

---------

Q. Hehe, that was funny. Now how do I get rid of it?

A. Delete the pak9.pak you unzipped earlier. IF you renamed your old pak9.pak to pak9.bak,
change it back to pak9.pak.

---------

Q. What point does this serve?

A. None.

---------

Q. Is there any other work by the author?

A. Yup. Kerbuffel has an icon pak floating around the internet somewhere.

---------

Q. Who made this? I wish to dismember him.

A. Kerbuffel (kerbuffel@captured.com) of CTF Survival Guide
(http://www.captured.com/kerbuffel) fame created this pak out
of shere boredem. It's his fault!

pak9.pak goes in your /Quake2/baseq2/ folder. If you already have a pak9.pak, you can
rename it to the next available number. If youdon't have any numbers left (you can only
have 0-9) you can stick it in any mod folderwhere you would like the new icons. So, if you
stuck it in /Quake2/ctf/ you would havethe new icons for CTF, but nothing else. If you
really want these in every game, simply copy this .pak file into each of your mod folders.
(It's only like 66K).

BE SURE NOT TO OVERWRITE ANY EXSISTING .PAK FILES!! YOU COULD DO SOME SERIOUSLY BAD
STUFF!! Such as overwriting a map pack, new mod pack, or other.

If you're extracting the .pcx files, and want to edit them, you have to extract them to
/Quake2/abcdef/pics/ (you can change abcdef to whatever you want). When editing the files
note the pinkish color. This is the color that Quake recongizines as transparent. You
will also need the Quake 2 pallette, which can be aquired at almost any skinning site. If
you have Paint Shop Pro, you can create your own pallette by taking a Quake 2 screenshot,
opening it, then hitting Color > Save Pallette. Whenever you finish an image, make sure
you save it using this pallette, or else it'll look all sorts of fragged up. Once you have
all the images done (or one done and want to see how it looks) start Quake 2 and type
"game abcdef" at the console, then load up a map.

Now, all this stuff seems pretty simple to me. However, you might find it complicated and
feel like you're going to mess up your Quake. If you have any questions, send them to
