*1. New in Version 06:*
***********************

Please keep in mind that version 06 is still a beta. You can provide us with feedback using the Alliance BBS at www.nachos.net or at www.planetquake.com/alliancenews.

- Added SAVE and LOAD features to the SETUP menu.

- The SAVE feature allows clients to save there settings after they assign keys for radio, voice and grapple. Your settings will be saved in the alliance.cfg and will be remembered every time you play.

- The LOAD feature allows clients to exec any config within their alliance or baseq3 directories.

- Autoexec.cfg and q3config.cfg files within your alliance directory are now automatically executed.

- Added "cg_noteamaudio 1" command for clients to turn off radio sounds. "cg_noteamaudio 0" will turn it back on.

- Grapple shoot and pull speeds are now fixed at 1150/750. There is also a server option to allow a 1900/550 speed for COMBAT mode. You can set this using "set g_combathook 1". (COMBAT mode only please)

- There is now an option to allow players to hook the sky. Servers can set this using "set g_skyhook 1". (COMBAT mode only please)

- Improved feel of hook by adding 0 gravity while grappling.

- Improved visual effect when hook hits something.

- Added "cg_notrailonpull 1" to turn off grapple cable while being pulled.

- Added a time limit for overtime period. Servers can set this using "set g_otlimit 5" for a 5 minute limit.

- Added "g_alliancegrappleglobal 2" to turn hook off in all maps. 0 = as designated by the map and 1 = on in all maps.

- Added RAILGUN CTF to the server.bat. This game is a cross between regular and COMBAT CTF. You spawn with only the railgun, have infinite ammo but still need to pick up health and armor.

- Windows 2000 users should now be able to use server.bat to launch a server.

- Included Alliance gamespy tab. To add this Tab go to the "view/custom tab/add" menu in Gamespy. See Gamespy Help for further info.

******************
*2. Installation:*
******************

- Unzip to your "Quake III Arena" directory or what ever directory you installed Quake3 into.

- If using winzip, make sure 'use directory names' is checked.

- If using another zip program, make sure you maintain the directory structure.

*IMPORTANT - You must have the latest Quake 3 points release 116n in order to play.
	   - You can get it at http://www.planetquake.com/quake3/files.shtml

*********************
*3. Getting Started:*
*********************

- Windows users double click the "Alliance Launch" shortcut in the "alliance" directory or run Quake 3 and select "Alliance" from the "mods" menu. Linux users type ./server.sh in your "alliance" directory and select 1 - menu. Then select 'Multiplayer'.

- At this point you can look for an Alliance server to join or hit the 'Create' button if you want to play with bots and walk through the maps.

- If you're creating a server, select a game type (CTF, FFA, Tourney, Team DM), then select a map.

- The Alliance CTF maps are 1 - 5 when creating a CTF game.

*********************
*4. Client Commands:*
*********************

- Once you're within a game of Alliance you will be able to assign your grapple key in the 'setup/controls/move' menu. Voice sounds can be assigned in the 'setup/controls/voice' menu and your radio sounds in both of the 'setup/controls/radio' menus.

- You could also place these commands in an autoexec.cfg and place it in your baseq3 directory. Use the supplied 'client.cfg' to guide you.

- Radio sounds are played over the entire map only to your team. Voice sounds are played within a local radius and are heared by everyone in the area.

- There are 5 different voices for radio/voice sounds. By default they are assigned to different models. You may over ride this by typing "soundtype male" in the console or placing it in your congig. The soundtypes are demon, female, male, mech and monster.

- An alternative way to play radio sounds is by hitting your team chat key and typing the name of the sound itself. i.e. - typing "base is clear" in your team chat would play the "base is clear" sound.

- You can also use your chat key to play voice sounds. i.e. - typing "good shot" after hitting your chat key would play the "good shot" sound.

*************************
*5. Server Menu Options:*
*************************

- Frag Limit (not in CTF): Number of frags to win.

- Capture Limit (CTF only): Number of captures to win.

- Time Limit: Time before level changes if frag/capture limit has not been reached.

- Friendly Fire: Allows you to kill your team mates.

- Pure Server: Prevents clients from running anything custom. Has to be on to allow autodownloading.

- Dedicated: Will run a dedicated or console server (means you can't play yourself).

- Hostname: The name of your server.

- Grapple Always: Enables the grappling hook on all maps.

- Combat Mode: Players start with all weapons, health and ammo auto restore. All items except megahealth and powerups are removed from the maps.

- Weapons Stay: Weapons are fixed to the ground and may only be picked up once (not in Combat Mode).

*****************************
*6. Advanced Server Options:*
*****************************

- Windows users double click the "Server.bat" in your "alliance" directory then select the type of server you wish to run.

- Linux users type "./alliance.sh" in your "alliance" directory and choose the server type you wish to run or simply type "./server.sh followed by the number of the server type you wish (1-9).

- There are 4 different server configs in your alliance directory that are executed for the various server types; ctf.cfg, combat_ctf.cfg, combat_dm.cfg and railgun_ctf.cfg.

- Every variable in these configs has been explained within the configs themselves and you may edited them as you see fit.
