INNER CITY DEATHMATCH v1.0
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
INTRODUCTION AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
This is my first attempt at a GTA map, but please don't let that put you off!
This map is intended for use in deathmatch mode in Grand Theft Auto.  It uses the Liberty City texture files (style001.gry or style001.g24).  Included in this .zip file should be the following components:
	ghetto.cmp	The map file
	mission.ini		The mission file
	readme.txt	This text file
	(no .fxt or .gry/.g24 files included)
To install the map it is best to use an automatic loader such as GTA LX (available free (I think) off the internet).  This avoids the risk of overwriting original files.  If you do want to do it manually, make sure you backup the original mission.ini  file before installation.  To use the map, select Liberty City Deathmatch mode.  The map can also be used in single player mode (select Gangster Bang), but there isn't much to do (a machine gun is provided if you get too bored).  A cannonball run may be added at a later date if I can work out how to do it.
DESCRIPTION OF THE MAP
The area of the map is about a quarter to a third of that of Liberty City.  The original intention was to make a kind of ghetto area of a city (hence the name of the map file) for the players to battle it out in,  but the map ended up larger and more varied than originally intended.  There are now some greener areas as well as the built-up bits, but I think it's still small enough to make for exciting deathmatches.  Features include:
	Harbour area
	Highway (btw don't bother trying to get onto it: you can't, and anyway it doesn't go too far)
	Bomb and respray shops (which work in deathmatch mode)
	Powerups
	Hidden area with 50 shot flamethrower!
	Ambulances and fire engines (not sure if they'll work)
If you have two players, one of the best ways to play this map is as a kind of cat-and-mouse game.  In order to do this, one of the players must edit the style001.gry (or style001.g24) file on his/her computer and black out the arrow that would point towards the other person.  This is dead straightforward once you've found the arrow in the .gry (or .g24) file, and can be done with the Paint programme that comes with Windows.  (Don't forget to backup, as it's less straightforward to redraw!)  This makes for an unfair but often much more exciting game, with one player as the 'cop' and the other as the 'robber'.  Alternatively both players can delete their arrows: this makes for a slower, calculating game of 'spot the other player'.
Please note that there are some problems with the textures when the map is played in 24 bit (high colour) mode, which went unnoticed during early testing since the map was only used in eight bit (low colour) mode.  This shouldn't be too much of a problem, since in my experience the two player game only works at anything resembling a decent speed in eight bit mode.
Please feel free to chop, change, embelish or expand the map in any way you want to.  If someone fancies adding some missions to make it a one-player map as well then go for it!  All that I ask is that you acknowledge me, Graham Martin (graham_p_martin@hotmail.com), in the text file if you decide to release the map into the public domain.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
This map would not have been possible without the following absolutely brilliant programmes:
	Junction 25
	M1
	Cops
	GTA Loader Extreme (GTA LX)
And also the many brilliant GTA internet sites, especially Gouranga!, M&Ms and Map Makers' Forum, and so many previous homemade maps that have inspired me, especially New Trevburg and Kick Ass City.
Thanks also to my brothers, who tested the map and in the process started one of the biggest Hare Krishna brawls in the history of GTA.  Absolutely classic.
POSSIBLY LEGAL NOTE
I'm not sure if I have to include this bit to make sure that no dodgy American geezers sue me for millions of dollars because their computers blew up while they use my map (joke), but I accept no responsibility for any damage to data or equipment caused by the use or misuse of this map.  You use this map at your own risk, but please don't let that put you off too much.  Happy hunting!
