Venturi Atlantique
Think of a French Version of a Lotus Esprit, and you're not far off the Venturi Atlantique. The body is much smoother, and there is no huge wing stuck on the back like the Esprit has, just a small lip spoiler. There's much more room in this baby than the Esprit has ever offered, but the 310 bhp 2.9 litre twin turbocharged engine still propels it from 0-60mph in 4.9 secs! Oh yeah, and also available is the 2.9 litre V6 Automatic, but this has no turbos, hence 0-60mph in 6.5 secs, so the less said about this the better! Not convinced? Ok, well Venturi took an Atlantique to the Le Mans 24 hours in 1995, it had 600bhp, and an ultra light body, -no pop-up headlights, -static ones behind plexiglass covers, a huge Rear wing, and a slighly wider track. It even headed the field at one stage, -so the car does have a pedigree.
OK, so it might not have the tarmac shredding capabilities of the Esprit, or the road presence (a bit too civilised if you ask me), but its still worth a look if you've got 65 grand burning a hole in your pocket! Happy motoring.
