

       PC-BaX v3.00 Backup & Recovery Software for OS/2 (30 Day Trial)

       Unzip PCBAX_v3.zip onto your hard disk. Unzip DISK1 & DISK2 onto two
       blank floppy disks. Using the OS/2 label command, label DISK1 INSTALL1
       and DISK2 INSTALL2.

       Once the above has been completed, insert DISK1 (INSTALL1), at the
       a: prompt type INSTALL <enter>. PC-BaX should start installing.

	Workstation Edition
	-------------------
	Cristie PC-BaX for OS/2 is a fully featured 32-bit multi threaded backup and recovery 		application designed to give optimum performance and portability. It fully supports OS/2 	file systems including HPFS and backs up all extended attributes and long file names. 
	The user interface, data format and command script language are common across OS/2, 		Windows 95 and NT enabling easy migration between platforms. 

	Server Edition

	In addition to the features of the Workstation Edition, the Server Edition supports OS/2 	LAN/Warp server including HPFS 386 file systems and Access Control List backup and 		restore.

	Disaster Recovery

	Disaster recovery can be used to recover both OS/2 workstations and servers. PC-BaX can 	be run from OS/2 boot disks for complete and speedy recovery of any OS/2 system, this 		potentially reduces recovery times from many hours to just minutes. 

	OS/2 Desktop Compatible
	-----------------------

	PC-BaX fully supports all the usual OS/2 desktop interface options such as drag and drop 	and pop up context menus. Notebook views and folders provide a consistent and easy to 		follow approach. 

 	Media Library
	-------------

	PC-BaX uses a disk based media library which allows the user to quickly locate and select 	files or directories for retrieval. The media library is also stored on tape for quick 		access in a disaster recovery situation. 

	Scheduler
	---------

	The scheduler enables the user to run backup jobs automatically at a particular time on a 	particular day for fully unattended backups. 

	Optimized Performance
	---------------------

	PC-BaX has many features designed to optimise backup performance while at the same time 	minimising the use of system resources. This includes a Quick File Access tape indexing 	system which gives high speed retrieval of individual files and quick appended backups. 

	Advanced File Selection Capabilities

	This allows quick selection by volume, directory, and file. File inclusion or exclusion 	is user definable for both backup and restore operations as is open and skipped file 		processing. 

	Device Support
	--------------

	PC-BaX supports a wide range of backup devices including DLT, DAT, QIC tape drives and 		autochanger systems. The Virtual Tape Driver allows backup to hard disks, network drives 	and a variety of removable disk products, including the Cristie Photon, LS 120, and 		others devices, such as Zip and Jazz drives.

	PC-BaX Autoloader Module

	The Autoloader module provides the interface between PC-BaX backup software and 		autoloader devices, these include Cristie's Autoloader & library range. It enables users 	to group tapes together for fully automated and unattended data backup. 

	PC-BaX ADSM Module
	
	The ADSM Module provides a powerful yet easy to use interface to the ADSM environment. 		This includes added functionality and performance over standard clients and improved file 	search and sort facilities. PC-BaX ADSM module gives you complete local control of all 		aspects of your backup to an ADSM server. All of the advanced features of PC-BaX become 	available to the ADSM user allowing complete integration of local tape backup with remote 	backup using a common powerful interface.
