This patch will prevent Netscape Communicator v4.04 for OS/2 from beeping
every time you load a new web page. This patch only applies to you if:

1) you use IBM OS/2 Warp v4
2) AND you use Netscape Communicator v4.04 for OS/2
3) AND you use IBM Pen for OS/2
4) AND Netscape beeps like mad every time you surf the web

This patch is unofficial; it does *NOT* come from IBM.

Thank you to (*ANONYMOUS*) for providing me with the necessary address
in the DLL to make this patch!

This is what you have to do to apply the patch:

- copy the NEW_PENPM.PATCH file to your X:\PEN\DLL directory
- reboot OS/2 and press ALT-F1 to get to the recovery screen
- select the option F2 to get to a command prompt
- change directory to X:\PEN\DLL
- run the command: PATCH.EXE /A NEW_PENPM.PATCH

You should see the following displayed on you screen:

   Patches applied to PENPM.DLL

- reboot

PLEASE NOTE: this patch simply prevents the call to DosBeep() -- the
beeps occur due to a serious memory (?) problem that does NOT get
solved by this patch. At least, we can now use Netscape Communicator
without having it beep at us every few seconds.

Use at your own risk. :)

To "revert" the patch, simply run the same steps described above,
but run the command: PATCH.EXE /A OLD_PENPM.PATCH
