              *  Creating A 4695 Setup Diskette *
              ***********************************

NOTE: This utility only supports 4695-2x1 models.
      The 4695-3x1 model does not support CMOS setup proxy configuration.

Programs and information files required to create a setup diskette
are distributed on the 4695 Supplemental Diskette V1.00 A:\UTIL directory,
or the 469X Supplemental Drivers Diskette SX27-3934-03, V2.00 (or later)
in the \4695\UTIL sub-directory.

The name of the program used to create the setup diskette is:

    CMOSETUP.EXE

Information about using this program can be found in the following file:

    CMOSETUP.TXT (this file)

The following data file contains the resulting CMOS setup data that is
generated when creating a setup diskette.

    CMOSFILE

Additional program files are necessary when creating a setup diskette.
The names of these program files are:

    CMOSBIOS.COM
    CCBOOTS.COM
    CCMOS.COM
    SETUP.COM

Following is the procedure for creating a setup diskette:

1. Copy all of the files listed above from the 469x Supplemental
    Drivers Diskette \4695\UTIL sub-directory to the fixed disk of
    the computer or 4695 where the diskette is to be created.
    It is required that a PC type keyboard be attached.

2. Go to the directory or sub-directory where the files were placed
    and key-in the following:

    CMOSETUP /S

    where /S requests 'run 4695 setup'

3. When the MAIN MENU appears, select: LOAD DEFAULT SETTINGS

4. Make the desired selections from each of the first five menu items.
    You can make changes to any of the fields that have square brackets []
    around their values.

    Fields without brackets are for information purposes only.

*                               Notes                                        *
*                                                                            *
* 1. Press the F1 key once for help information about specific menu *
* line items. Press the F1 key twice for general help information. *
*                                                                            *
* 2. The setup diskette cannot set Time and Date in the target system. *
* Time and date must be set via operating system software or your *
*          application program.                                              *
*                                                                            *
* 3. The setup diskette automatically configures Memory, Fixed Disk, *
* Mouse, and Math Coprocessor hardware in the target system. You *
* do not need to make selections for these items in the Setup *
*          program.                                                          *
*                                                                            *
* 4. It is not necessary for you to create two setup diskettes if some *
* of your 4695 systems have Point-of-Sale Adapters and others *
*          don't.  A setup diskette for systems that have the Point-of-Sale  *
* Adapter will work correctly in systems that do not have one. *
* However, the reverse is not true! A setup diskette that was *
*          created without Point-of-Sale Adapter configuration data can't    *
*          configure a Point-of-Sale Adapter.                                *
*                                                                            *
**************************************************************************** *

5. When you have entered all the information, select: SAVE SETUP.
    CMOSFILE is then updated with your setup data.

6. Insert a blank formatted diskette in the A drive of your computer or
    4695 when instructed to do so.

7. CMOSFILE, in addition to the necessary program files, are written
    to the diskette in the A drive.
    The diskette in drive A becomes a bootable diskette that performs
    setup automatically when booted in a 4695 system.

8. If you wish to create additional copies of the setup diskette, including
    4695 setup data created in step 7 above, key-in the following command:

        CMOSETUP

    with no parameters.

                  *****************************
                  * Using the Setup Diskette *
                  *****************************

There are two situations where a 4695 Setup Diskette may be used:

1. For 4695s that do not have a PC type keyboard attached, a setup
    diskette is required to setup the terminal. This is typically
    done at the time of installation as well as after the system
    board has been exchanged. The setup diskette is prepared at a
    PC or terminal that has a PC type keyboard attached. It is then
    booted in the keyboardless 4695 and the terminal CMOS is setup
    automatically.

2. If all 4695s in a store have the same configuration, a setup
    diskette can be created at a central site and then distributed to
    the store at installation time. Rather than performing manual setup
    on each 4695, you simply boot the setup diskette in each terminal and \
    it is setup automatically. The setup diskette can be used
    in any 4695 Model 201 or 211 whether it has a PC type keyboard or not.
