Links 2.0 pre 1
===============

Hi all, this is a pre-compiled OS/2 binary of the latest Links.

For those who don't know, Links is a text-mode web browser, which is able
to correctly display tables and frames, and to render correctly most pages,
even if they include several graphical elements.

It is ideal for quick navigation, without banners, ads and other unwanted
contents.

This release is from the new 2.0 branch, which features graphics mode (with
the "-g" command line option), JavaScript, hierarchical bookmarks, font
smoothing and more!!
Moreover it is very fast, starts up in a couple seconds, and has little
memory requirements!

This build is SSL enabled, and the ZIP contains precompiled DLLs for the
OpenSSL 0.9.6 library.

== NOTE ==

If you're using any of my ELinks builds, please note that this Links release
doesn't support many of the features you're probably used to with ELinks
(and also misses most of the features of the Links releases after 0.92).

If you start this Links build without paying attention, it WILL screw your
ELinks configuration, because of the many options it is not aware of, and
because of the new formats of some configuration files.

You probably want to retain your ELinks configuration, since ELinks development
will probably catch up in the following weeks, incorporating all the new
capabilities.

To avoid messing with ELinks, you should set up your HOME environment variable
to point to the current directory, before launching Links. I've provided a CMD
file that does just this (plus a few other things) for you to customize and
use.

Requirements
^^^^^^^^^^^^

 - EMX runtime libraries. Better use the latest release (0.9d fix 4)
 - gcc29166.dll (included) for the OpenSSL DLLs
 - libpng, libjpeg and libtiff DLLs (included)

You may want to get the uname.exe utility (from the GNU shell utilities, on
hobbes.nmsu.edu or www.leo.org), though not strictly required (and NOT
included).

My name is Cristiano Guadagnino, and you can reach me at criguada@tin.it.

I am NOT the author of Links. I simply compiled it, since the OS/2 community
was missing a pre-compiled binary of Links with SSL, JS and graphic support.
I am sharing it in the hope that someone will find it useful.
