Some personal hints on PMDraw /2 1.97

I personally found this software really useful and interesting, but it has some
quirks the author never corrected - indeed a pity, but at least it works fine!

First of all, I suggest to install it into a first-level directory, just as in
X:\PMDRAW2 (where X: is your application-dedicated volume. Because you HAVE a
system-only volume AND an application-only volume, right? ;) )

It seems that the program has some problem in handling Tryetype fonts. This
should not be a real problem if you have freetype installed. As soon as you
have mozilla firefox, this should work like a charm ;)

The page size is somehow limited: you can't choose a custom page size over
15" x 15", iirc. This should not be a problem for the majority of projects.
Still, if you want to use it as a CAD/CAE software, you will find yourself much
constrained... So maybe the next best thing to do is to revert to BlueCAD or
some java CAD software.

Drawing export/import is another problem, due to the age of the software.
There's, of course, no filtering software for known formats like AutoCAD's DWG
or other common CAD formats. One could study the internal PMD format and try
to build a conversion software.

Please note that I wasn't able to find some particular copyright notice for
this program, so I can't assure you are not breaking some law. *** IF SOMEONE
FINDS THAT THIS PACKAGE SHOULD *NOT* BE ON HOBBES OR OTHER DOWNLOADING SITE,
PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN ASK TO DELETE IT. ***

And of course, use at your own risk: I didn't trash my HD nor my OS/2 machines
using this little piece of software, but I cannot give any warranty. YMMV in
your experience with this software. I cannot assure you will find it useful.

Have fun drawing with OS/2 :-)
